  1. Can folders be moved within Bb?
Blackboard provides the ability to copy and move folders and individual content items. It does not, however, include the ability to "drag and drop" folders or content items.
  2. Can students see each other's assignments that are submitted via the Assignment Manager tool in Bb?
No, students can only see their own assignment submissions.
  3. What happen to the digital drop box for assignments?
The Digital Drop Box is no longer available in Blackboard 7.3.X or later. Assignments can be submited in Blackboard by creating an assignment through the Blackbaord process. Tutorial
  4. Can the Bb Gradebook handle letter grades and do weighting?
Yes, the Gradebook in Bb enables instructors to use letter grades (as well as customer grade values). The Gradebook also allows instructors to do weighting by individual item or by category.
  5. Does the Gradebook in Bb allow multiple marking periods? And provide cumulative averages?
In Bb, instructors can add a Gradebook item (such as a mid-term grade) that is not included in the total grade calculation. However, this item would not be automatically calculated based on the previous items. The only Gradebook item that is automatically calculated based on previous items is the running total item titled "Weighted Total".
  6. May instructors edit their exams in Bb after making them "available" without worrying about losing the grades?
Yes, instructors may modify assessment questions once they are deployed. Unlike Bb 5, the modifications will not clear any assessment attempts.
  7. When taking timed assessments in Bb, can students continue to work on questions and submit the assessment after the time period has been exceeded?
If a student exceeds the allotted time period on a timed assessment, he/she can still submit the assessment. The instructor will see an indicator in the Gradebook that the student exceeded the time period.
  8. Are students able to save their tests in Bb so as not to lose their answers in the event of a lost connection? How would a student retrieve a lost test?
While a student is taking an assessment, he/she now has the ability to save the responses without necessarily submitting the assessment for grading. To return to the saved assessment, the student returns to the course area that contains the assessment and clicks on the link to the assessment. At that point, he/she will be able to continue taking the assessment. *Feature not available when 'Force Completion' selected.
  9. Can instructors randomize test questions in Bb?
Yes, in Bb instructors can randomize the assessment questions for each assessment attempt. This enables each student to see the questions in a different order.
  10. Can instructors upload tests into Bb?
There are several ways that instructors can get test questions into Bb. One of the new features is the ability for instructors to write questions offline, save them in a csv file format, and upload them into the test manager. IN addition, instructors can export and import pools of test questions (this can be done using Respondus).
