iTunes FAQ's
 

1) What is UIW on iTunes U?
UIW on iTunes U is the ability for UIW students to download or play lectures or interviews through iTunes.

2) How do I get iTunes?
iTunes can be downloaded from Apple.

3) Will I have to pay to have access to iTunes U @ UIW?
No. UIW on iTunes U is free to access and/or preview UIW information.

4) How do I sign into iTunes?
UIW students can sign onto UIW on iTunes U from Blackboard. Once logged into Blackboard, click on the iTunes link in the My UIW tab.

5) What is a podcast?
A podcast is a series of digital-media files which are distributed over the internet. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast)

6) What is the difference between a public site and a private site?
A public site is visible for all users that visit UIW on iTunes U. A private site will only be visible to students who are currently enrolled in the private courses site.

7) Must I use iTunes and Apple products to view files on UIW on iTunes U?
Yes. You must have iTunes or QuickTime to view items posted on UIW on iTunes U.

8) How do I create an iTunes site?
Instructors can request to have a site course created by submitting a course request form.

9) What media format must I use for iTunes?
iTunes must be in the following formats of .m4a, mp3 or mpeg-4,mp4, m4v or mov.

10) How do I convert media files for iTunes U?
Any audio file not in the correct file format can be converted using iTunes. In iTunes, select the File menu and click 'Import.' The browse menu appears. Browse to the location of the media file. Highlight file and select open. The media file will be imported into your iTunes Music library. Locate song in library and right click file and click 'convert file to ACC. Please seek assistance from media center for converting video files. Support can be reached at itunes@uiwtx.edu.

11) Where can I download content from in UIW on iTunes U?
Public or private podcast can be downloaded by entering a course or interview and clicking the 'get movie' button.

12) Why does the video not play when clicking on the preview icon in iTunes?

Enchanced videos require the entire file to be download first and may delay the playing of the video. Downloading the file from the 'get movie' icon will allow the file to be downloaded and viewable.

13) How do I look up a course?
Public course can be viewed by clicking on the respective school. Private course can only be viewed if you are enrolled into the course.

14) How are courses named?
Courses are named based on the information obtained from the Banner system. Course names cannot be changed.

15) Why do other people's playlist appear on my iTunes?
iTunes gives user's the ability to stream from other user's iTunes libraries. This feature may be turned off by selecting Edit>Preferences>Sharing and deselecting 'Look for shared libraries.'

16) Can files created by UIW students be submitted to post into a UIW iTunes course
No, content submitted must be original work of the instructor.

17) Why do I have to submitt my video/audio files to be uploaded into iTunes?

All files are submitted to the iTunes team so that an introduction can be added to the media.
